Advanced Integrative Therapy

Therapist:

Rea Kowal

Advanced Integrative Therapy (Seemorg Matrix Therapy) is a dynamic new transpersonal energy psychotherapy, developed by Asha Clinton. It is a synthesis of approaches from Eastern spirituality, Western psychology, and psychoneuroimmunology. AIT supports and generates healing, development, and illumination by gently removing traumatic symptoms and replacing them with positive beliefs and qualities, spaciousness, and strengthening of connection between ego and center (authentic /core self). The basic premise of AIT is that present day problems have old causes (trauma). As such, treatment must address the effect of trauma on the human being. Tauma is defined as: "...any occurrence which, when we think of it or is triggered by some present event, evokes difficult emotions and/or physical symptoms, gives rise to negative beliefs, desires, fantasies, compulsions, obsessions, addictions, and/or dissociation, prevents or hinders the growth of positive qualities and spiritual connection and development, and fractures human wholeness." (Clinton, 2002, p.99).

AIT is an advancement of other energy techniques such as Thought Field Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) in that it uses a three-step transformation process that examines and treats the roots of the problem, current issue, and connection between the two. Related maladaptive belief complexes/matrices are identified and cleared also, such that clients experience permanent relief!

As the client talks with the therapist about his/her problem, energy/muscle testing serves as a guide to subconscious information about underlying maladaptive energy patterns and blocks. An electromagnetic circuit between major energy centers (chakras) is then formed and the client is guided to move through primary energy centers and several minor chakras and meridian points. This allows related emotions, sensations, behaviours and thoughts associated with trapped negative energy patterns to move down the chakric canals and out the feet.

Treatment is thorough, resolving resistance quickly and easily. With the therapist's guidance, the client tracks and clears all possible threads or leads from the belief matrix that appear to have a negative influence on healthy functioning. This psychotherapy is not used only for deep, trauma-based clinical issues. The treatment protocol is simple to apply and user-friendly. Once learned, clients frequently find it helpful beyond the clinician's office to clear their own situational, emotional distress when it arises.

Animal Communication

Therapist:

Heather Faris
Animal Communication, also called Interspecies Communication refers to telepathic communication between species. I believe we can all experience connecting on a soul level with another being, human or ‘animal’. Telepathic communication is the ability to connect with another being from a distance in such a way that one may experience the thoughts, feeling, or general situation of another. This experience is received energetically and can be interpreted through, words, images, feeling, thoughts, smells and direct knowing. Learn more...
Brain Gym/Educational Kinesiology®

Therapists:

Val Kendall
Brain Gym can be effective for a wide range of problems. It is the treatment aspect of Educational Kinesiology which is the theory of brain development through movement. Brain Gym is a set of integrated movements that enhance learning and neural development. Movement awakens and activates many of our mental capacities; it integrates and anchors new information and experience into our neural networks. Through movement and stimulation, neural pathways can reorganize themselves. See what other people have said about their success with Brain Gym.

Brain Gym® may improve:
  • Attention deficit disorder or learning disabilities. Certain movements, in conjunction with procedures called balances, facilitate development of immature areas of the brain, increase flow of information across the band of tissue connecting the two hemispheres, and enable the brain to function more efficiently in stressful situations.
  • Poor academic performance. Each person has a dominance profile which determines how he or she learns best. Some people are visual learners, some are auditory learners and some learn best when they are able to do something "hands on". Once this profile is determined by an Brain Gym practitioner, beneficial changes can be made in the learning environment, and a program of simple Brain Gym movements can be practiced at home to develop or retrain certain areas of the brain. Brain Gym balances may be done during therapy sessions to correct ineffective patterns of brain use.
  • Performance deterioration due to stress or anxiety. Everyday life stresses can cause the non-dominant hemisphere of the brain to partially "shut down", as if on a dimmer-switch. Obviously we do not do our best thinking or communicating when we are functioning primarily from one hemisphere. There are several simple movements to "turn on" both hemispheres, enabling you to make a better presentation, be more physically coordinated or more articulate during a discussion.
  • Exam anxiety. Learn to turn on both hemispheres of your brain and write good exams.
  • Inability to communicate well when upset. Learn to stay calm and express yourself effectively.

Brain Spotting

Therapist:

Rea Kowal
Mary Jean Malyszka

During brainspotting, therapists aim to help people position their eyes in a way that enables them to target the sources of negative emotions. A brainspot is an eye position that tends to activate a traumatic memory or painful emotion. Practitioners of the procedure argue that it allows therapists to access emotions on a deeper level and to target the physical effects of trauma.

There is increasing evidence that trauma is “stored” in the body and can alter the way the brain works. Trauma can, for example, interfere with emotion, memory and even physical health. Brainspotting therapists attempt to access both the physical and emotional aspects of negative emotions. There is some evidence that brainspotting works primarily on the limbic system, a collection of brain structures that play a role in emotion, long-term memory, cognition, motivation, impulse control and several other psychological factors that can effect well-being.

Emotional Freedom Technique, developed by Gary Craig, is a unique version of acupuncture without needles. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and portable so you can do it anywhere. Many people have been amazed to find a specific negative emotion fade away after a few rounds of tapping. For more information visit www.EFTuniverse.com

Energy Balancing/Spiritual Healing

Therapist:

Katie Grinham

Your body's energies include the electrical charge in every cell and organ --the electrical pathways in the nervous system, the electromagnetic fields surrounding every organ as well as the entire body, and also more subtle energies. You may have heard of subtle energy through such terms as life force, chi, prana, meridians, chakras, biofields or auras. These terms refer to the biomagnetic and bioelectric energy fields associated with the human physiology. These energies are called “subtle” because the fields are not easily detectable and scientists have not been able to develop instruments to reliably measure them. However, many people for centuries and across cultures have described sensing subtle energies to varying degrees.

The body's energies are interconnected so that what ever is happening on the physical level affects the subtle energy system and what ever is happening in the subtle energy system affects the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of a person. Each subtle energy system is associated with an gland, major nerve plexus, specific organs and specific psychological functions. If there is a disturbance in the subtle energy system, then the systems that it feeds are compromised. If the ultimate cause of a problem is in the subtle energy system, then treating a problem on the physical level may be ineffective.

How Does Energy Balancing Work?
Because our energy fields are interconnected, the practitioner's electromagnetic field can interact with the client's electromagnetic field. This is accomplished through intention or through using the electromagnetic charge of my hand to activate the electromagnetic fields in the body. This causes changes in the client's electromagnetic fields. This in turn, produces changes in the chemical balance and chemicals (egg. endorphins, hormones, serotonin) are released. The release of these chemicals affects the cell structure and function, and this produces changes in the physical and emotional states of the body.

Because of the complexity and subtleness of these various systems, it is more difficult to ascertain direct benefits. For information about Balancing the Subtle Energy System refer to: Gerber, R. (2001). Vibrational Medicine. Rochester, VT: Bear & Company; Brennan, B.A. (1987). Hands of Light. New York:Pleiades.

EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing®

Therapists:

Val Kendall
Rea Kowal

EMDR, is a powerful new psychotherapy technique which has been very successful in helping people who suffer from trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, post traumatic stress and many other emotional problems.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation or right/left eye movements, which alternately activate the right and left hemispheres of the brain, releasing emotional experiences that are "trapped" in the nervous system, allowing it to free itself of blockages.

As troubling images and feelings are reprocessed by the brain, resolution of the issues and a more peaceful state are achieved.

How Does It Work?

The therapist gently asks the client to revisit the traumatic incident, recalling thoughts, feelings and details surrounding the experience. The therapist then uses bilateral tapping, or holds her fingers about eighteen inches from the clients face and begins to move them back and forth like a windshield wiper. The client follows the movements as if watching ping pong. As quick and vibrant images arise during the therapy session, they are processed by through the eye movements or bilateral tapping, and painful feelings are exchanged for more peaceful, resolved feelings.

What problems are helped by EMDR?
  • physical traumas - car accidents, assaults, injury, natural disasters, etc.
  • emotional issues - phobias, traumas, anxiety, fear, grief
Healing Touch®

Therapist:

Healing Touch is a biofield therapy -- an energy based approach to health and healing. It uses touch to influence the human energy system, specifically the energy field that surrounds the body, and the energy centers that control the energy flow from the energy field to the physical body. These non-invasive techniques utilize the hands to clear, energize, and balance the human and environmental energy fields thus affecting physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and healing.

It is based on a heart-centered caring relationship in which the practitioner and client come together energetically to facilitate the client's health and healing. The goal in Healing Touch ® is to restore harmony and balance in the energy system, placing the client in a position to self heal. Healing Touch complements conventional health care and is used in collaboration with other approaches to health and healing. Private healing sessions are available daily by appointment.

Past Life Therapy

Therapist:

Rea Kowal

Past life therapy regresses an individual to past lives in order to heal and resolve ailments and situations in the current life.

Past life therapy is based on the ancient Hindu belief in reincarnation which dates back thousands of years. The concept of Karma is an important component of reincarnation. The basic belief of karma is that every action has a reaction: cause and effect. Each lifetime is lived in order to resolve unwholesome actions in previous lifetimes. According to this theory, a person's actions in one lifetime determine the conditions, situations, relationships, environment and opportunities of the next life.

Although "past lives" began as a religious concept, since the 1960s it has been used in the therapeutic community to help people reframe current issues in their lives that are blocking their health and well-being. Whether or not past-life experiences and memories are real is debatable and ultimately unprovable. They may be metaphors of the mind. Even so, they can serve as useful processes for bringing understanding and resolution to present conflicts.

Past life therapy is reported to have a myriad of benefits. Memories revealed from a past life allow individuals to alter their perspectives on their current lives. This therapy helps people to understand who they are, learn how past life events have affected present life circumstances, and offers insight into hidden conflicts so that repeating patterns may be stopped.

Play Therapy

Therapist:

Val Kendall

Using adult techniques is not appropriate with children. Their main mode of communication is play, a serious business for them. Play fits in what we call depth psychology. Subconsciously we convey a lot by our non-verbals and our selection of symbolic objects for our play. Play can be a huge metaphor of life. Special training is required to utilize play therapy. Val has been working via play therapy with children for 14 years. The innate intelligence of children, their subconscious understandings and ability to self-heal through play continues to amaze her.

Best progress is with parents “on the team,” not being intrusive but prepared to also learn by filling the role of a “therapeutic partner” when appropriate. Child ages most appropriate are 3-12 years, but expressive arts such as drawing, painting, clay work, writing, movement, sound and sand-tray are appropriate for older children and adults as well. What is a song, but an expression of the composer’s inner life and feelings and opinion? Val is also trained in Expressive Arts.

Many adults have lost their playfulness and are reluctant to “let it all hang out.” Don’t worry! No one will ever force you to be “expressive.” Val follows your lead.

Reiki®

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation and healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the theory that an unseen "life force energy" flows through and enlivens us. If your "life force energy" is low, then you are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, you are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It can be used alone or in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

TAT
Tapas Acupressure Technique
®

Therapists:

Val Kendall
Trauma often causes blockage or stagnation in one or more energy flows in your body. As you automatically react with thoughts such as "No, this can't be" or "This is too much for me", your inability to accept and process the event results in energy imbalances and unhelpful patterns of mental, emotional, and physical behavior and health. TAT allows your body-mind system to take a second look at the traumatic event and see it accurately rather than continue to deny its reality. In doing a TAT we correct the energy imbalance, returning it to a normal state. The unhelpful or incorrect beliefs, emotions and mind-sets that were frozen in place at the time of trauma are then able to be processed and released in a normal way.

What Issues Does TAT Treat?
  • allergies
  • physical traumas - car accidents, assaults, etc.
  • emotional issues - phobias, traumas, anxiety, sexual aversions or addictions, anger, low self-esteem, depression.
  • incorrect beliefs
TAT improvements usually are permanent. For example, once your allergy has been cleared your body is no longer allergic to the allergen. It is not symptomatic relief; it is a cure based on correcting your immune system's mistaken belief that a benign substance is dangerous. (Similar to the way allergy shots work)

TAT Examples
TAT can sometimes clear up long-standing problems in one or a few treatments. A middle-aged woman had suffered from a phobia of heights all her life. She could not even walk up a set of bleachers without developing vertigo and feeling faint. After one treatment she was able to ride up the glass elevator at Canada Olympic Park, stand outside on the 90 metre ski jump and ride back down on the chair lift without symptoms. Several clients with severe anger problems have felt surprisingly less angry after doing the TAT. Others who had been nervous drivers/passengers following car accidents found they could even drive past the scenes of their accidents without heart-pounding anxiety. TAT can often take the trauma out of past experiences of abuse, enabling clients to cope better in their current relationships.

The beauty of the TAT and similar energy techniques such as Emotional Freedom Technique is the speed and gentleness with which they can promote recovery. Issues usually considered to require long term therapy are often successfully treated in a few sessions. To learn more about TAT visit www.TATLife.com or google "Tapas Acupressure Technique". There are dozens of interesting sites.
